SCOTT CITY -- Lula Catherine Purcell, 97, of Leadwood, died Sunday, Aug. 7, 1994, at Mineral Area Regional Medical Center. She was born Dec. 23, 1896, in Wilford, Ark., daughter of Will and Mary Gilliam. She first married Frank Cruse, who preceded her in death. She later married Charles C. Purcell, who also preceded her in death...

SCOTT CITY -- Lula Catherine Purcell, 97, of Leadwood, died Sunday, Aug. 7, 1994, at Mineral Area Regional Medical Center.

She was born Dec. 23, 1896, in Wilford, Ark., daughter of Will and Mary Gilliam. She first married Frank Cruse, who preceded her in death. She later married Charles C. Purcell, who also preceded her in death.

Survivors include two sons, Henry Cruse of Nipomo, Calif., Tom Cruse of Leadwood; three daughters, Helen Held of New Hamburg, Lois Skaggs of Desloge, Evelyn Browne of Scott City; 19 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, son, two sisters and a brother.

Friends may call at C.Z. Boyer and Son Funeral Home in Leadwood after 2 p.m. today.

Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Frieda Betts officiating. Burial will be in Lightner Cemetery at Scott City.
