Luis Francisco Villanueva, 56, of Jackson died Saturday, May 21, 2016, at his home.
He was born May 15, 1960, in Copala, Guerrero, Mexico, to Alberto Francisco Villanueva and Elvira Villanueva Batalla. Luis was raised in Tepecoacuilco de Trujano in Guerrero, Mexico, by his grandparents, Francisco and Elodia. He and Crystal Diane Moore were married Jan. 23, 1998, in Cairo, Illinois.
He graduated from high school in Mexico. While in Mexico, he worked as a fireman. After moving to the United States, he worked for years as a cook and server at several local Mexican restaurants. Most recently, he worked at El Torero in Perryville, Missouri, but is best known as the "Guacamole Guy" from his days at El Sol in Cape Girardeau.
His passion was cooking for his family and friends. He loved being at home with his family and drinking Bud Light.
Luis had a special, childlike personality and a big heart that touched all who knew him. He always had a smile on his face and had a unique, infectious laugh that would brighten any room and brought joy to those around him.
He is survived by his wife, Crystal Villanueva, two sons, Luis Diego Villanueva and Andres Guillermo Villanueva, all of Jackson; and a sister, Amada Villanueva Batalla of Guadalajara, Mexico.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Rafael and Mario Villanueva.
Friends may call from 9 to 11 a.m. Friday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Jackson.
The funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the church, with the Rev. John Harth officiating. Burial will be at Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson.
Memorial contributions may be given to the family through Ford and Sons Funeral Home in Jackson to help with funeral expenses.
