CHARLESTON -- Lucy Pauline Farmer Whitehead, 81, of Charleston died Friday, March 5, 1993, at Cape Girardeau. She was born Feb. 25, 1912, at Shelby Grove, the daughter of Jesse Newton and Dora Adeline Baker Farmer. On Feb. 8, 1930, she married William C. Whitehead, who preceded her in death April 24, 1964...

CHARLESTON -- Lucy Pauline Farmer Whitehead, 81, of Charleston died Friday, March 5, 1993, at Cape Girardeau.

She was born Feb. 25, 1912, at Shelby Grove, the daughter of Jesse Newton and Dora Adeline Baker Farmer. On Feb. 8, 1930, she married William C. Whitehead, who preceded her in death April 24, 1964.

She lived in Mississippi County her entire life and was a member of the United Methodist Church in Charleston.

Survivors include 10 sons, Charles D. Whitehead of Jefferson City, William C. Whitehead Jr. of Emporia, Va., Frank Russell Whitehead of Richmond, Va., Arthur Jesse Whitehead of Memphis, Tenn., George Irvin Whitehead of Olline, James F. Whitehead of Brawley, Calif., and John David, Richard W., Benjamin A. and Robert A. Whitehead, all of Charleston; three daughters, Carla Jo Knaup of Cape Girardeau, Jenny Lee Wedeking of San Diego, Calif., and Nancy Susan Risko of Virginia Beach, Va.; two brothers, Jesse and Jack Farmer, both of Charleston; a sister, Emma Heim of Largo, Fla.; 31 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.

She also was preceded in death by a brother, a sister and a grandson.

Friends may call after 3 p.m. today at the McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston. Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the United Methodist Church in Charleston. The Rev. Richard Combs and Monsignor Michael Swalina will officiate, and burial will be in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Charleston.
