Lucretia "Lucy" Dawn Proctor Luster, 45, died of multiple complications from Type 1 diabetes Monday, Aug. 31, 2015, in Fort Walton Beach, Florida.
Lucretia "Lucy" was preceded in death by her parents, Roy C. Proctor Sr. and Margaret L. Proctor.
She is survived by her husband, Todd Luster, of Fort Walton Beach; brother, Roy (Elaine) Proctor of Benton, Missouri; sister, Sharon (Ron) Legrand of Kelso, Missouri; and a brother, Dwayne (Karla) Proctor of Benton. She also is survived by many nieces and nephews that loved her very much. She also leaves behind four furry pets that miss her terribly.
Lucy was born Feb. 27, 1970, in Cape Girardeau to Roy and Margaret Proctor.
She resided in Benton and graduated from Kelly High School and then attended Patricia Stephens Career College, where she graduated with a degree in retail merchandising and management.
She lived in Benton for the first 32 years of her life, met her husband, Todd, and moved to Crossville, Tennessee. Lucy lived there for eight years and was very active in the community, including DCI, the downtown Crossville Revitalization project. She eventually moved to Fort Walton Beach, where she has resided the last three years. Her love of the beach and the Gulf of Mexico kept her spare time busy, and her latest professional position was an assistant manager for Anytime Fitness in Fort Walton Beach.
Lucretia "Lucy" loved people as her many friends and family members can attest to. At special events, she was usually one of the first to arrive and one of the last to leave. Her patience, love and kindness for others was never more apparent. Music of all different genres also was a huge passion of hers. She was an active participant in the Country Radio Seminar in Nashville, Tennessee, for many years and helped promote new music artists, including Jason Aldean. She was an active member of the Son's and Daughters of Italy, Joseph Franzilia Lodge No. 2422, Fort Walton Beach participating in the annual Christmas meal for special-needs adults.
Visitation is will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Ford and Sons Funeral Home in Benton.
The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Dennis Lowe officiating. Burial will be at Forest Hills Memorial Gardens in Morley, Missouri.
