DEXTER -- Virginia Lucille Rainey, 76, of Dexter, died Tuesday, Nov. 8, 1994, at her home.
She was born Sept. 15, 1918, at Dexter, daughter of Clarence and Golden Bowman White. She and Ray W. Rainey were married Sept. 15, 1940, in Blytheville, Ark.
Rainey taught first grade at Dexter Public Schools 39 years, retiring in 1978, and had been a licensed embalmer and funeral director with Rainey Funeral Home since 1955.
She was a member of First Baptist Church, Southeast Missouri Funeral Directors Association, Missouri State Teachers Association, Alpha Delta Kappa sorority, Thimble Clubb, Dexter Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, and American Legion Auxiliary.
Survivors include her husband; a brother, Charles Evans of Shreveport. La., and a sister, Georgia Snider of Dexter.
She was preceded in death by her parents, stepfather, two stepbrothers and a stepsister.
Friends may call at Rainey Funeral Home from 5-8 p.m. today.
Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Revs. Duke Tolbert and Wayne Dismuke officiating. Burial will be in Dexter Cemetery.
