Lucille Z. Masterson, 83, of Jackson passed away Tuesday, Sept. 12, 2023, at her granddaughter's home in Jackson. She was born in Thebes, Illinois, to the late Clarence Cecil and Della Marie Warren Carner. Lucille and Donald Eugene Masterson were married Sept. 21, 1957. He preceded her in death June 4, 2010. Together, they owned and operated Lou's Bait and Tackle and the Southernaire Motel in Olive Branch, Illinois...

Lucille Z. Masterson, 83, of Jackson passed away Tuesday, Sept. 12, 2023, at her granddaughter's home in Jackson.

She was born in Thebes, Illinois, to the late Clarence Cecil and Della Marie Warren Carner. Lucille and Donald Eugene Masterson were married Sept. 21, 1957. He preceded her in death June 4, 2010. Together, they owned and operated Lou's Bait and Tackle and the Southernaire Motel in Olive Branch, Illinois.

Lucille worked in the packaging department at the Rubbermaid plant in Jackson, from which she retired. Later, she was a secretary at the courthouse in Cairo, Illinois. She loved playing bingo, never passed up a yard sale and enjoyed crafting with her niece.

Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren brought her much joy, and she enjoyed spending as much time with them as she could.

Lucille is survived by three sons, Gregory Masterson of Olive Branch, Kevin Masterson of Bloomfield, Missouri, and David Scott Masterson of Cape Girardeau; two sisters, Mary Jo Kaufman of Thebes and Carolyn Ann Denton of Cairo; and grandchildren, Cecil James Masterson of Festus, Missouri, and Mallorie Alexis Masterson (fiance, Brandon Ladson) of Jackson, and their two children, Ryker Wayne Ladson and Renlie Rosalee Ladson.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and a son, Ricky Dale Masterson.

Cremation services have been entrusted to Crain Funeral Home and Cremation Service.

A private family burial will take place at Olive Branch Cemetery.

A celebration of life service will be announced on the funeral home's website at a later date.
