DIEHLSTADT -- Funeral for Loy R. Ashmore of Diehlstadt will be held at 7 p.m. today at McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston. The Rev. Mark Odle will officiate. Burial will be in St. Joe Cemetery in Russellville, Ark.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 5-8 p.m. today.
Ashmore, 87, died Saturday, March 4, 2000, at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.
He was born Aug. 6, 1912, in Gum Log, Ark., son of C.D. and Emma Hottinger Ashmore. He and Vera Mae Arnold were married Feb. 7, 1932. She died June 23, 1999.
Ashmore lived in Scott County most of his life. He was a mechanic with Cooney Equipment Co. in Sikeston, retiring in 1972.
Survivors include a daughter, Carolyn Belk of Diehlstadt; a brother, Idis Ashmore of Mesquite, Texas; and three grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters.
