FREDERICKTOWN, Mo. -- Lowell Edmond McElvain, 70, of Fredericktown, formerly of Marble Hill, Mo., passed away Monday, May 30, 2011, at Stockhoff Nursing Home in Fredericktown. He was born Jan. 24, 1941, in Glenallen, Mo., son of Jess Edward and Ella Mae Kirkpatrick McElvain. He married Julia Kay McElvain on Feb. 9, 1964. She passed away Nov. 1, 2000...

FREDERICKTOWN, Mo. -- Lowell Edmond McElvain, 70, of Fredericktown, formerly of Marble Hill, Mo., passed away Monday, May 30, 2011, at Stockhoff Nursing Home in Fredericktown.

He was born Jan. 24, 1941, in Glenallen, Mo., son of Jess Edward and Ella Mae Kirkpatrick McElvain. He married Julia Kay McElvain on Feb. 9, 1964. She passed away Nov. 1, 2000.

Lowell worked as a sawmill operator and was a member of McGee Chapel.

Survivors include two sons, Joseph McElvain of Jackson, Dean McElvain of Fredericktown; three sisters, Norma Lee McDaniel and Ruth Ann Flaherty of Fredericktown, Ruby Francis of Farmington, Mo.; eight grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Clarence McElvain, Marvin McElvain; and an infant sister, Earsa Mae McElvain.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Liley Funeral Home in Marble Hill.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Clinton Massa officiating. Interment will be in McGee Chapel Cemetery near Grassy, Mo.
