Louise Young, 75, of Jackson passed away Tuesday, Nov. 15, 2011, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau.

She was born Sept. 26, 1936, in East Alton, Ill., to Leo and Oneita Rohr Pavish. She and David E. Young were married June 4, 1960, in Wood River, Ill.

Louise and David moved from Cape Girardeau to Jackson in 1968. In 1977, they established Young's Thriftway Drug Store in Jackson. They owned and operated the business until 1999.

Louise was a member of the Arts Council of Southeast Missouri, the Jackson Homemakers Club, and enjoyed playing bingo in the company of her friends. She was a gifted artist, craftier and flower gardener. She had a special love for her cats, especially her favorite cat, Lucky.

She is survived by her loving husband of 51 years, David of Jackson; three sons, Steve (Bonnie) Young of Fenton, Mo., Gregory Young of Jackson, Brent Young of San Diego; three grandchildren, Nate, Colin and Julia Young; a sister, Dolly (Dick) Duiguid of Dorsey, Ill.; a brother, Paul Pavish of East Alton, Ill.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother and three sisters.

Friends may call from 6 p.m. to time of service Friday at the chapel of McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.

A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Sam Roethemeyer officiating.

Memorials may take the form of contributions to the Arts Council of Southeast Missouri, 32 N. Main St., Cape Girardeau, MO 63701.
