Louise Smith Shaver-Seyer, 90, of Cape Girardeau died Saturday, Sept 2, 2023, at Lutheran Home. She was born Dec. 18, 1932, in Scott County to Luther Bledsoe and Rosie Lee Ward Smith. Louise Smith Shaver-Seyer, 90, of Cape Girardeau died Saturday, Sept 2, 2023, at Lutheran Home.

She was born Dec. 18, 1932, in Scott County to Luther Bledsoe and Rosie Lee Ward Smith. Louise married Victor Paul Shaver on April 17, 1954. He preceded her in death May 29, 2003. She married Vincent Seyer on March 6, 2006. He preceded her Dec. 13, 2020.

She was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church. She served as a volunteer at Saint Francis Medical Center and was a driver for American Red Cross. She sang at Lutheran Home and was a member of its choir.

She enjoyed sewing and crafts, and made jewelry and clothing. She also liked flowers and gardening. In addition, Louise made many home visits to the elderly.

Survivors include a son, Gregory Allen (Donna) Shaver of Jackson; four brothers, Luther (Sharon) Smith Jr. of Sikeston, Missouri, Harold Smith of Las Vegas, Travis (Delores) Smith of Sikeston and Truman (Jeanette) Smith of Irondale, Missouri; sister, Carol Patterson of Sikeston; two grandchildren, Amy (Jay) Cox of Sikeston and Lindsay Chapman of Jackson; and four great-grandchildren, Lily Cox, Elliot Chapman, Emma Cox and James Cox.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Victor Paul Shaver and Vincent Seyer; two brothers, Leon and Ernest Smith; and sister, Ronnie Shaw.

There will be a memorial gathering from 6 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 6, at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home.
