Wright, 79, died Monday, Sept. 26, 1994, at Cape Girardeau Nursing Center.

She was born Dec. 11, 1914, in Grisham Spur, daughter of George and Minnie Nevin Weltch. She and Carl B. Wright were married Feb. 24, 1951, in Hernando, Miss. He died March 28, 1985.

Wright received a bachelor of science degree in education from Southeast Missouri State University, and taught six years in Missouri schools. She became a caseworker with Missouri Division of Welfare in 1953, and from 1955-62 was a casework supervisor. For 23 years she was a county director with Division of Family Services in Cape Girardeau.

She was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church, member of the boards of American Cancer Society, Cape Girardeau Mental Health Chapter, and Human Resource Corp. She served on the advisory board of the Lung Association.

Survivors include a sister-in-alw, Hazel Weltch of Cape Girardeau; two nephews and a niece.

She was preceded in death by a brother.
