Louise Hastings Ballard, 87, formerly of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, June 1, 2021, at her home in Jackson. She was born March 19, 1934, in Poplar Bluff to Odie and Eva Taylor Settlemoir. She and Welton Hastings were married July 18, 1953. Three daughters were born to their union. They had been married 33 years when Welton passed away Oct. 1, 1986. She later married Paul Ballard, and they had been married 10 years when Paul passed away...

Louise Hastings Ballard, 87, formerly of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, June 1, 2021, at her home in Jackson.

She was born March 19, 1934, in Poplar Bluff to Odie and Eva Taylor Settlemoir. She and Welton Hastings were married July 18, 1953. Three daughters were born to their union. They had been married 33 years when Welton passed away Oct. 1, 1986. She later married Paul Ballard, and they had been married 10 years when Paul passed away.

Louise was an operating room technician, working many years at Poplar Bluff Hospital, Lucy Lee Hospital and Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center, retiring in 2005. She was a member of Family Worship Center in Poplar Bluff.

She moved to Jackson in 2011. Many in Jackson will remember that Louise enjoyed volunteering at the Jackson Senior Center.

Loving survivors include daughters, Desma (Danny) Reno of Jackson, Trish (Kenny) King of Poplar Bluff and Welta Garrison of Dexter, Missouri; stepson, James (Gayla) Ballard of Searcy, Arkansas; grandchildren Matthew (Dana) Reno, Jonathan Reno, Jenna (Michael) Long, Dara Seabaugh and Brock Garrison; great-grandchildren, Liam, Kadyn, Talon, Kaylor, Micah, Mekenna, Isaiah, Avery and Brendan; and a sister-in-law, Freda Settlemoir Fox.

She was preceded in death by her husbands; grandson, Cameron Garrison; siblings, Dennis Settlemoir, Barbara Robinson, Glenda Settlemoir and Flora Gisse; and parents, Odie and Eva Settlemoir.

A graveside inurnment will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Poplar Bluff.

To celebrate Louise's life, the family has scheduled a gathering from 10 a.m. to noon June 24 at Senior Center in Jackson.

Memorials may take the form of contributions to the Jackson Senior Center or the American Cancer Society.

McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson was entrusted with Louise's care.
