Funeral for Louis A. Schabbing of Neoga, Ill., was held Wednesday at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Sigel, Ill. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Bauer Funeral Home in Effingham, Ill., was in charge of arrangements.
Schabbing, 83, died Monday, May 18, 1998, at Heartland Christian Village in Neoga.
He was born Dec. 16, 1914, in Cape Girardeau, son of Joseph and Mary Kohlfeld Schabbing. He and Cecilia M. Esker were married in 1954.
Schabbing was retired from W.G. Best Homes. He was a member of St. Michael's Church, and Neoga Knights of Columbus. He served with the U.S. Army in Europe during World War II.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Tom Schabbing of The Colony, Texas, Paul Schabbing of Neoga; two daughters, Ann Schabbing of Fairmount, Ill., Jane Trosper of Seffner, Fla.; a brother, Albert Schabbing of Cape Girardeau; a sister, Marie Laurentius of Cape Girardeau; and eight grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers.
