Louis William Rohlfs, 92, of Jackson died Friday, June 21, 2013, at Monticello House.
He was born Sept. 29, 1920, at Balls Mill, Mo., near Poplar Bluff, Mo., to Rempt and Marie Mingst Rohlfs. He and Lura Mae Mittelhauser were married Dec. 24, 1941. She died June 17, 1995.
Louis graduated from Neelyville High School. He was a retired farmer and loved the outdoors. He was a member of Neelyville Methodist Church and attended New McKendree United Methodist Church in Jackson.
He is survived by a son, Dr. Louis H. (Carol) Rohlfs of Jackson; a daughter, Mary Lou (Ralph) Shelton of Jackson; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; two brothers, Gustav and Emil Rohlfs; and a sister, Minnie Hunt.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Cracraft-Miller Funeral Home in Jackson.
The funeral will be at 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Jimmie Corbin and the Rev. Jim Woeltje officiating. Burial will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Kinsey Cemetery near Poplar Bluff.
Memorials may be made to Neelyville Methodist Church, New McKendree United Methodist Church or to the Alzheimer's Association.
