Louis Roosevelt Jordan Sr., 73, 1335 Amblewood, died Monday, Oct. 20, 1997, at his home. He was born June 20, 1924, in Meridian, Miss., son of Ed and Lillie Taylor Jordan. Louis Roosevelt Jordan Sr., 73, 1335 Amblewood, died Monday, Oct. 20, 1997, at his home.

He was born June 20, 1924, in Meridian, Miss., son of Ed and Lillie Taylor Jordan. He married Annie Gardner, who died June 5, 1987.

Jordan was a retired timber conservationist, and member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Meridian. He moved to Cape Girardeau in July from Poplarville, Miss.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

Survivors include a son, Louis Jordan of Cape Girardeau; three daughters, Rochelle Robinson of Wiggins, Miss., Rosalyn and Karen Robinson of Poplarville; a brother, David Jordan of Meridian; two sisters, Lillie Shack of Chicago, Lenotra Gaddis of Meridian; nine grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, three brothers, and three sisters.

Friends may call at Mt. Zion Church from 7-9 p.m. Saturday.

Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Sunday at the church. Burial will be in Tunnel Hill Cemetery in Meridian.

Ford and Sons Mt. Auburn Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
