NEW MADRID, Mo. -- Louis Franklin Jones, 87, of New Madrid lost his battle with cancer Sunday, Jan. 22, 2012, at his home.
He was born July 27, 1924, to Louis Daniel and May Henry Jones of New Madrid. He and Dorothy Cobb were married Sept. 8, 1948. She preceded him in meeting the Lord on March 12, 2003.
Jones was a lifelong farmer in New Madrid and along with his son, Tony, was recognized as New Madrid County's Farmer of the Year in 1983. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church in New Madrid.
Those left to treasure his many memories include a sister, June Nelson of Wappapello, Mo.; a sister-in-law, Thelma Fisher of St. Louis; a son, Tony Jones and wife Cindi of New Madrid; grandsons, Stowe Anthony Jones of St. Louis and Coleman Daniel Jones of Cape Girardeau; a daughter, Frances Gould and husband Dr. Tim of Cape Girardeau; grandchildren, Dr. Adam Michael Davis and wife Andrea of Franklin, Tenn., Matthew Franklin Davis and fiancee Megan of Cape Girardeau, Jonathan Draime Gould of St. Louis and Amanda Starling Gould of Durham, N.C.; and two great-grandsons, Hudson Armstrong Davis and Hayden Michael Davis of Franklin.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. today at Richards Funeral Home in New Madrid. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery in New Madrid.
