NEW HAMBURG, Mo. -- Louie L. Schmitt, 87, of New Hamburg died Monday, Feb. 19, 2001, at his home.
He was born Sept. 26, 1913, at New Hamburg, son of Frank and Katherine Hagan Schmitt. He and Ursaline Glueck were married May 11, 1937. She died Oct. 10, 1996.
Schmitt was a maintenance man at the Frisco Railroad Co. Roundhouse in Chaffee, Mo. He was a member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church and St. Joseph Sodality.
Survivors include two daughters, Mary Enderle and Alma Rogers of St. Louis; a sister, Mary Greer of Chaffee; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by a son, a grandchild, a great-grandchild, six brothers and three sisters.
Friends may call at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee after 4 p.m. today. Parish prayers will be at 7.
Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Lawrence Church, with the Rev. Normand Varone officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
