Loretta Yvonne Proffer, 74, of Jackson passed away Wednesday, Dec. 7, 2022, at Heartland Care and Rehabilitation Center in Cape Girardeau. She was born April 2, 1948, in Alton, Illinois, the daughter of Leo and Jerry May Dickmann Sticht. She and Billy Proffer were married May 1, 1986, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Jackson. Loretta Yvonne Proffer, 74, of Jackson passed away Wednesday, Dec. 7, 2022, at Heartland Care and Rehabilitation Center in Cape Girardeau.

She was born April 2, 1948, in Alton, Illinois, the daughter of Leo and Jerry May Dickmann Sticht. She and Billy Proffer were married May 1, 1986, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Jackson. He preceded her in death Aug. 1, 2021.

Loretta attended school in Jackson. She had previously worked at the Perryville, Missouri, hospital and Ralph Edwards Sportswear. Later, she and her husband, Billy, owned and operated a janitorial service, cleaning Southwestern Bell Building in Cape Girardeau and Jackson Elks Lodge.

Loving survivors include four children, Tommy Sticht of Gerald, Missouri, Dewanna (Kevin) Brown of Burfordville, J. (Chasady) Stortz of Whitewater and Denny Stortz of St. Charles, Missouri; seven grandchildren, Rosa, Matthew and Stephanie Sticht, Austin and Ben Brown and Casey and Joshua Stortz; two great-grandchildren, Ezekiel and Stetson; and stepmother, Hazel Sticht of Jackson.

In addition to her husband, Billy, of 35 years, she was preceded in death by her mother, Jerry May Sticht; father, Leo Sticht; and brother, Marty Sticht.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 8, at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.

Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 9, at the funeral home, with the Rev. Eric Lafoon officiating. Burial will follow in Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson.

Memorials may take the form of contributions to Epilepsy Foundation or Jackson Senior Center.
