CHAFFEE, Mo. -- Lorenza P. Whitley, 72, of Chaffee died Friday, Dec. 3, 2004, at his daughter's home in Cape Girardeau.
He was born Sept. 26, 1932, in Portageville, Mo., son of Cecil and Lennie Lucille Cudd Whitley. He and Anna Mary Rodenberry were married May 15, 1965, in Cape Girardeau.
He worked in the Cape Girardeau city cemetery department and later worked at the Florsheim Shoe Factory in Cape Girardeau. He retired in 1992 from Gene Rhodes Travel Plaza after 21 years.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Kathy Williams of Cape Girardeau, Leslie Hinton-Johnson of Jackson; two sons, Scott and Michael Hinton of Chaffee; a brother, Bobby Whitley of Chaffee; a stepson, Danny Hahn of Egypt Mills, Ill., five stepdaughters, Patricia Brown of Cape Girardeau, Vicki Henderson of Illinois, Marilyn McClard of Chaffee, Marie Elsey of Michigan, Jean Rossi of North Carolina; 19 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a stepson, nine brothers and 10 sisters.
Friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Robert G. Poe officiating. Burial will be in Fairmount Cemetery at Cape Girardeau.
