SIKESTON -- Funeral service for Lorene Stancil of Sikeston and formerly of Dogwood will be at 2 p.m. today at the McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston.
The Rev. Harold Norton will officiate and burial will follow in the Dogwood Cemetery.
Mrs. Stancil died Friday at the Hunter Acres Care Center in Sikeston. She was 78.
She was born April 24, 1912 in Dawson Springs, Ken., to the late John and Mattie Stallings Davenport. On Aug. 8, 1931, she married C. J. Stancil, who survives of the home.
She had lived in Dogwood for 36 years before moving to Sikeston in 1987. She was a member of the Dogwood United Methodist Church, and for three years was co-owner and operator of the East Prairie Flower Shop.
Other survivors include a daughter, Mary Ellen Keene of Sikeston; five half-sisters, Roxy Beyerbach, Pauline Davenport and Jo Alma Comstock, all of East Prarie, Elzora Robey of Bloomfield, and Dorothy Shepherd of Poplar Bluff; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two brothers and four sisters.
Friends may call at McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston until the time of the funeral.
