Lorene Geneva Grossheider, 87, of Greenwood, S.C., died Monday, Jan. 4, 2010, at Wesley Commons Assisted Living Facility in Greenwood.
She was born in Gordonville, daughter of the late Alvin John Jacob Grossheider and Elsie Amolia Marie Graden.
She moved to Aiken, S.C., in 2001 from St. Louis. Lorene retired in 1982 after 23 years of service as an office administrator with Crown Zellerbach Corp. She was a former member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Grace Lutheran Church, St. Matthew Lutheran Church and a member of Lutheran Church by the Lake and the Red Hat Society.
Lorene was an avid bowler and crafter. She was a volunteer crocheter for ACTS.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded by sisters, Edna Flanigan, Ruth Cropp, Roberta Robinson and Frances McNeely.
She is survived by sisters Barbara Venz of McCormick, S.C., Eleanor Haman and Audrey McHenry of Cape Girardeau.
George Funeral Home in Aiken is assisting the family in South Carolina.
A service will be held at a later date in Cape Girardeau, with Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Burial will be in Cape County Memorial Park.
