SIKESTON -- Lorene L. DeRoush, 76, of Twentynine Palms, Calif., died Friday, March 29, 1996, at High Desert Medical Center in Joshua Tree, Calif.
She was born Sept. 14, 1919, in Lennox, Tenn., daughter of Ogden Swift and Martie Alice Coram Harris. She and Charles Edgar "Eddie" DeRoush were married Jan. 25, 1939, in Sikeston. He died July 31, 1979.
While in Sikeston she helped operate the Bulldog Inn, a family business. She moved from Sikeston 14 years ago, and had lived in California nine years. She had been a nurse's aide and cleaned motels.
Survivors include four sons, Charles DeRoush Jr. of Murray, Ky., Donald "Duck" DeRoush of Nashville, Tenn., Dick DeRoush of Colorado Springs, Colo., Tommy DeRoush of Blaine, Minn.; three daughters, Lillian Menken of Colorado Springs, Margaret Essig of Twentynine Palms, Marty DeRoush of Nashville; two sisters, Pauline Weidemann and Betty Melton of Sikeston; 14 grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, brother and sister.
Friends may call at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday.
Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the chapel, with the Rev. Bob Medlock officiating. Burial will be in Dogwood Cemetery.
