ALTO PASS, Ill. -- Loren B. Thompson, 86, of Alto Pass died Thursday, April 15, 1999, at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Marion.
He was born March 31, 1913, at Carrier Mills, son of Ernest and Anna Russell Thompson. He and Mildred Marie Hale were married Sept. 25, 1973, at Murphysboro.
Thompson retired from building management at the VA Medical Center in Marion. He was a member of Heyde-Pillow VFW Post 1301 in Marion.
He was a veteran of World War II and received the Purple Heart and other medals.
Survivors include his wife; three stepdaughters, Judith Etherton and Betty Mueth of Alto Pass, Sharon Smith of Sparta; a stepson, Thomas Sanders Jr. of Bartonville; a sister, Ethel Woltjen of Bradenton, Fla.; two brothers, Lee Thompson of Plymouth, Ind., Bill Thompson of Springdale, Ark.; nine stepgrandchildren; and seven great-stepgrandchildren.
There is no visitation.
Graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Alto Pass Cemetery, with military rites by VFW Post 1301.
Lutz and Rendleman Funeral Home at Alto Pass is in charge of arrangements.
