Loneeda Christine "Chris" Rader, daughter of the late Thelmar Martin and Sybel Elizabeth Allmon Hicks, was born Nov. 11, 1936, in Ava, Missouri, and passed away Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2019, at Independence Care Center in Perryville, Missouri.

She was 82 years, 1 month and 29 days of age. She was baptized at Stephens Lake by the Rev. Archie Coomer.

Chris was raised in the Mountain Grove, Missouri, area. She married Jack Gordon Rader on Nov. 28, 1952, in Mountain Grove. Two children were born to this union.

Chris and Jack moved to Wichita, Kansas, where Chris worked at a car wash. They returned to the Mountain Grove area and later moved to Cape Girardeau and operated a dairy farm. Chris also worked in the maternity ward at Southeast Hospital and later worked as a stocker for Venture. In the late 1990s they settled in the Perryville area, where she took care of the farm while Jack trucked. In 2009, they returned to the Mountain Grove area as she was starting to show signs of Alzheimer's. In 2015, they returned to the farm at Perryville to live closer to their daughter.

She greatly enjoyed gardening and loved to grow daylilies. She also raised small-breed dogs for many years, making many friends. She enjoyed deer hunting and music.

Besides her parents, Chris was preceded in death by her stepfather, Marion Blake Bunzel, and her best friend, Mary Davenport.

She is survived by her husband, Jack; one son, Michael L. Rader (Kristina) of Mountain Grove; one daughter, Mitzi L. DeSpain (Bobby) of Perryville; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and other relatives and friends who will miss her dearly.

Visitation was held Friday at Craig-Hurtt Funeral Home in Mountain Grove.

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Smiley Martin officiating. Song selections are "Amazing Grace," "Just A Closer Walk With Thee" and "Precious Memories" sung by Tonya Martin, with Shelby Atchley serving as pianist. Russell Driskell, Bobby DeSpain, Jack Rader, Ronnie Hicks, Randy Hicks and Frank Siter will serve as pallbearers. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery at Mountain Grove, under the direction of Craig-Hurtt Funeral Home.
