Lona I. Clay, 78, of Cape Girardeau, died Sunday, Feb. 8, 1998, at her home.
She was born Feb. 6, 1920, in Higdon, Ark., daughter of George T. and Anna Jane Turney Main.
She and Jasper E. Clay were married June 26, 1941, in Keiser, Ark. He died Feb. 3, 1964.
She was a past member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary in Arkansas. She was a homemaker and had lived in Cape Girardeau since 1985.
Survivors include a son, Michael L. Clay of Cape Girardeau; a stepson, Lamar Whitaker of Elgin, Ill.; a brother, Kit D. Main of Wilson, Ark.; a sister, Oma V. Barnes of Senitobia, Miss.; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter and son.
Friends may call Tuesday from 4 to 6 p.m. at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Chapel.
Funeral service will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the chapel, with the Rev. David Dissen officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
