Staten, 84, died Sunday, April 6, 1997, at Jonesboro Health Care Center in Jonesboro.

She was born Sept. 28, 1912, in Kentucky, daughter of John and Mary Mattie Wright.

Survivors include her husband, Homer Staten; two sons, Lewis Judd of Louisville, Ky., Hobert Judd of Taylorville, Ky.; a brother, Walter Wright of Dallas, Texas; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and several stepgrandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, three brothers, and two sisters.
