PADUCAH, Ky. -- Lois M. Nelms, 79, of Paducah, formerly of Cairo, Ill., died Tuesday, Feb. 17, 2009, at Lourdes Hospital in Paducah. She was born April 15, 1929, in Cairo, daughter of John and Effe Johnson Tucker. She married Carl E. Nelms. She had been a waitress and was a member of Seventh Day Adventist Church in Paducah...

PADUCAH, Ky. -- Lois M. Nelms, 79, of Paducah, formerly of Cairo, Ill., died Tuesday, Feb. 17, 2009, at Lourdes Hospital in Paducah.

She was born April 15, 1929, in Cairo, daughter of John and Effe Johnson Tucker. She married Carl E. Nelms.

She had been a waitress and was a member of Seventh Day Adventist Church in Paducah.

Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Terri Prado of West Paducah, Ky., Nancy Carpenter of Wickliffe, Ky.; a sister, Thelma Kearney of Sun City West, Ariz.; a brother, John Tucker of Hampton Va.; and three grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son, two sisters, a brother and a grandchild.

Visitation and funeral service will be private.

Barkett Funeral Home in Cairo is in charge of arrangements.
