Lois Frances Farmer, 79, of Cape Girardeau, died Tuesday, Nov. 14, 1995, at her home.

She was born July 8, 1916, in Purdy, daughter of Ervin Adam and Ora Frances McCampbell Morlan. She and Lynval Wayne Farmer were married June 2, 1946, in Joplin. He died Dec. 7, 1957.

Farmer received a bachelor of science degree in education from Southwest Missouri State University in Springfield and master's degree in music from the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville.

She taught vocal and instrumental music 35 years, including schools in Tunas, Billings, Humansville, Lamar and Stockton. She directed a 70-member boys choir in Neosho that performed extensively in the Southwest Missouri area.

Farmer was supervisor of music for grades 1-12 at the former Campus School from 1964-75, and was also supervisor of student teachers. In 1969 she was appointed to serve on a national committee of Music Educators National Conference concerning music for early childhood education.

She retired as an assistant professor at Southeast Missouri State University in 1982.

Farmer was a member of First Christian Church, sang in the choir 13 years and had served on the worship committee. She had served on the Community Concert Association Board, and had been a member of Wednesday Club, Fort D Senior Citizens, and Chapter JN of PEO Sisterhood.

Survivors include a son, Randy Farmer of St. Louis; a daughter, Elaine McClary of Lincoln, Neb.; a brother, Willis Morlan of Mountain Home, Ark., and three grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a brother.

A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at Lorberg Memorial Funeral Chapel. The Rev. James Zink will officiate.
