Lois G. Cook, age 77, of Cape Girardeau, went to be with her Lord on Thursday, Aug. 30, 2007, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Gir­ar­deau. She was born Jan. 18, 1930, in Morley, Mo., daughter of Ralph D. and Ruby Lawson Abernathy. In early years, Lois worked in Cape Gir­ar­deau for Southwestern Bell Co. as an operator. Lois G. Cook, age 77, of Cape Girardeau, went to be with her Lord on Thursday, Aug. 30, 2007, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Gir­ar­deau.

She was born Jan. 18, 1930, in Morley, Mo., daughter of Ralph D. and Ruby Lawson Abernathy.

In early years, Lois worked in Cape Gir­ar­deau for Southwestern Bell Co. as an operator. She worked at the former Thorngate Garment Factory in Chaffee, Mo., for a number of years, retiring as an inspector.

Lois enjoyed visiting with friends at the Cape Senior Center. She was a member of Lynwood Baptist Church in Cape Girardeau.

Loving survivors include three sons, Steve (Susie) Cook of Virginia Beach, Va., Jonathon (Nancy) Cook of Georgetown, Texas, Michael (Lynda) Cook of Cape Girardeau; two daughters, Amy (Steven) Esner of Branson, Mo.; Barbara (Matt) Hopkins of Cape Gir­ar­deau; nine grandchildren, Dana McDonald, Danette Bollinger, Derek Dickerson, Janell Vied, Matthew and Jessica Cook, Samantha Cook, and Justin and Melissa Hopkins; and her former husband, Elmer J. Cook.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Donna Dickerson, a grandson, Christopher Michael Cook, and a sister, Lora Clinton.

Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 1, 2007, and from 1 to 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 2, 2007, at McCombs Funeral Home in Cape Gir­ar­deau.

Service will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at the funeral home, with the Rev. Rick Crump officiating.

Interment will follow in Forest Hill Cemetery in Morley.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the Baptist Children's Home in Bridgeton, Mo.
