Lloyd D. "Dave" Richardson, 59, of Jefferson City, Mo., passed away Thursday, April 13, 2006, at St. Mary's Health Center in Jefferson City. He was born Feb. 22, 1947, in Cape Girardeau, son of Waldo and Jessie May Rhodes Richardson. Dave grew up in Crump, graduated from Delta High School in 1965, and was honorably discharged from the Navy in 1967...

Lloyd D. "Dave" Richardson, 59, of Jefferson City, Mo., passed away Thursday, April 13, 2006, at St. Mary's Health Center in Jefferson City.

He was born Feb. 22, 1947, in Cape Girardeau, son of Waldo and Jessie May Rhodes Richardson.

Dave grew up in Crump, graduated from Delta High School in 1965, and was honorably discharged from the Navy in 1967.

He owned and operated the former Straightway Service Station in Jackson, and worked part-time for the former Gerhardt Construction Co. in Cape Girardeau before going to work for the railroad. After 33 years of working as a brakeman and conductor, he retired from Union Pacific Railroad in 2003 due to his health.

Dave was a member of the United Transportation Workers. He had lived in Jefferson City since 1983.

Loving survivors include his wife, Brenda of Jefferson City; a brother, Boyd Richardson of Whitewater; a son, David (Kelly) Richardson of Jackson; a grandson, Garret Richardson of Jackson; a son, Bradley (Deanna) Richardson of Chaffee, Mo.; two grandchildren, Ethen and Kristen of Chaffee; a stepson, Brent (Sue) Gierke of Bentonville, Ark.; three stepgrandchildren, Jacob, Carly and Rachael Gierke of Bentonville; a stepson, Christian Gierke of Jefferson City; and an aunt, Lucille Rhodes of Whitewater.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Friends may call Friday from 5 to 7 p.m. at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson.

A memorial service will be held at 7, with the Rev. Mike Huffman officiating.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or Proffer Cemetery.
