Lloyd McElroy Jr., 87, of Cape Girardeau died Saturday, March 19, 2011, at Life Care Center of Cape Girardeau.

He was born June 13, 1923 in Cape Girardeau to Lloyd and Elva Little McElroy. He and Fern Scheper were married Dec. 7, 1945, in Cape Girardeau.

He served in the U.S. Air Force during World War II.

Lloyd worked as an electrical contractor his whole life, starting at Mac & Son Electric in 1953. He was a life member of VFW Post 3838 and a past member of the Masons.

Survivors include his wife, Fern McElroy of Cape Girardeau; a son, Larry (Regina) McElroy of Cape Girardeau; a daughter, Brenda (Ray) Snider of Marble Hill, Mo.; three grandchildren, Josh McElroy, Dustin and Jay Snider; and great-grandchildren, Madilyn and Keegan McElroy, Ally, Ethan, Reagan and Garrett Snider.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Mary Frances Adams.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Chapel.

Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the chapel, with the Rev. Donny Ford officiating.

Burial will follow at Memorial Park Mausoleum.

Memorial contributions may be given to St. Jude's Children Hospital.
