PERRYVILLE, Mo. — Lizzie S. Hoffstetter, 93, of Perryville died Thursday, April 3, 2008, at Independence Care Center of Perry County.

She was born July 19, 1914, in Perry County, daughter of Henry and Genevieve Schwent Scherer. She and Otto Hoffstetter were married July 29, 1943. He died May 3, 1981.

Hoffstetter had been a stitcher at International Shoe Co. and a cook at the Senior Citizen Center. She was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church and its Ladies Sodality, American Legion Auxiliary and VFW Auxiliary.

Survivors include two sisters, Mary Hagan of Perryville and Theresa Boxdorfer of St. Louis.

She was preceded in death by a brother and a sister.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today and 6:30 to 9:40 a.m. Saturday at Young and Sons Funeral Home. The VFW Auxiliary wake will be at 7:15 p.m. today, followed at 7:30 by the Catholic wake.

Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Vincent de Paul Church. The Rev. Milton Ryan will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.
