Lisa Carol “Miss Kitty” Thomas, 54, of Cape Girardeau died Monday, March 7, 2016, at Saint Francis Medical Center.
She was born Oct. 20, 1961, in Cape Girardeau to Joseph Lee and Leola Mack Twiggs. She and Kenneth Brown were married Thursday, May 28, 2015, at Pensacola, Florida.
Miss Kitty was a member of New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church in Cape Girardeau. She was a cook at Southeast Missouri State University for several years, and she also held various other jobs throughout her lifetime. She liked to walk and to sing and loved spending time with and cooking for her family. Her favorite sayings were, “Don’t worry about me; I’m okay” and “Understand this!”
Survivors include her father, Joseph Lee Twiggs of Jefferson City, Missouri; her mother, Leola Mack Twiggs of Cape Girardeau; her husband, Kenneth Brown of Cape Girardeau; a son, Tanarius Twiggs of Tucson, Arizona; two daughters, Rakeia Twiggs of St. Louis and Sammeia Twiggs of Vandalia, Missouri; two brothers, Vincent (Lilly) Twiggs of Cape Girardeau and Donny Twiggs of Phoenix; five sisters, Deborah Twiggs, Valerie (Sammy) Davis, Christy Twiggs, Pamela (Tommy) Robinson and Robin Twiggs, all of Cape Girardeau; a good friend, Reecie Egson of Atlanta; nine grandchildren; 14 nieces; eight nephews; 27 great-nieces; 24 great-nephews; and one great-great-nephew.
She was preceded in death by a niece, nephew and her grandmother and grandfather.
Friends may call from noon to 1 p.m. Saturday at New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church in Cape Girardeau.
A funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the church, with the Rev. Dr. Joseph G. Cotton Jr. officiating. Burial will be at Fairmount Cemetery in Cape Girardeau.
Memorial contributions may be given to Ford and Sons Funeral Home to assist the family with funeral expenses.
