LINUS VERNON

PERRYVILLE -- Linus F. "Slim" Vernon, 64, of Perryville died Thursday, Oct. 9, 1997, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

He was born April 2, 1933, in Perry County, son of Elmer and Lela Boxdorfer Vernon.

Vernon was a mechanic at garages in Perryville, Ste. Genevieve, and Granite City, Ill., retiring from Valleroy's Garage in Perryville. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church.

Survivors include seven brothers, Harold "Jake" Vernon of Alabama, Elvis, Leroy, Willard "Dick", Ray, Larry and Gary Vernon, all of Perryville; four sisters, Evelyn Cottner, Dolores Neuling and Sharon Baudendistel of Perryville, and Connie Kempfer of Evansville, Ill.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother.

Friends may call at Young and Sons Funeral Home from 4-9 p.m. today, and Sunday from 6:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.

Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Immanuel Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Craig Otto officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
