ZALMA -- Lon L. "Linn" Choate, 72, of Zalma died Monday, July 5, 1999, at John J. Pershing VA Medical Center in Poplar Bluff.

He was born April 19, 1927, at Grassy, son of Lon A. and Effie Kirkpatrick Choate. He and Dorothy Corbin were married Dec. 27, 1947, in Piggott, Ark.

Choate was a landowner and developer 20 years in the Zalma area. He served in the Merchant Marines two years, and served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Candace Miller of Winter Haven, Fla.; and two granddaughters.

He was preceded in death by a daughter.

Friends may call at Morgan Funeral Home from 5-8 p.m. today.

Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Dale Wiseman officiating. Burial will be in Baker Cemetery at Marble Hill.
