CHAFFEE, Mo. -- Lindel O. "Buck" Thurston, 71, of Greenville, Mo., died Wednesday, Jan. 21, 2009, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

He was born May 8, 1937, in Hiram, Mo., son of the late Gilbert and Mae Hancock Thurston. He and Linda Dildine were married June 11, 1960.

Thurston was a heavy equipment operator with Michael Annis Construction in Jackson, retiring in 2007. He was affiliated with the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses at Cherokee Pass.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Lindel Thurston of Salem, Ore.; a daughter, Kay Evans of Fordland, Mo.; a brother, Willard Thurston of Hiram; a sister, Iva Montgomery of Hiram; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at Ruegg Funeral Home in Greenville.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with James Miller and Harold Smith officiating. Burial will be in Wesley-Dixon Cemetery at Hiram.
