Linda Kay Wessel, 60, of Gordonville received her crown of life Tuesday, Aug. 31, 2021, after a year-long battle with cancer.

Linda was born May 26, 1961, in Cape Girardeau to Calvin C. and Donna M. Phelps Livingston.

She was a 1979 graduate of Cape Girardeau Central High School. She frequently volunteered at Cape First Church and Safehouse for Women. Linda was a fervent prayer warrior and passionate child of God. When she wasn't tending to others, her tranquil escapes included family trips to Walt Disney World and hunting for seashells along the beach.

Linda, affectionately known as "Maw Maw," adored spending time with her three beloved grandchildren, always viewing each moment with them as precious. She wore a multitude of hats, making her incredibly special to so many. Linda had the most selfless, giving soul -- unfailingly serving others and having compassion first, love always and judgment never. She was without a doubt an inspiration to innumerable people and has left behind a remarkable legacy.

Her loving survivors include her husband of 33 years, David Joe Wessel of Gordonville; two sons, Austin (Alyssa) Wessel of Murfreesboro, Tennessee, and Joseph (McKala) Wessel of Gordonville; grandchildren, Skyler, Chloe and Josiah; sister, Pamela Hamilton of Cape Girardeau; brother, Kenneth Livingston of Cape Girardeau; eight nieces, including Kara Sissom, Stephanie Ganim and Angela Dodds; six nephews, including Chris Livingston; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.
