SIKESTON, Mo. — Lilly Heyde Yount II, 76, of Sikeston passed away Monday, Dec. 11, 2023, at her home. She was born April 15, 1947, in Cape Girardeau at Saint Francis Hospital to the late John Henry Jr. and Lilly Elizabeth Heyde Yount. She graduated from Sikeston High School in 1965 and from Stephens College with a bachelor's degree in secondary education. ...

SIKESTON, Mo. — Lilly Heyde Yount II, 76, of Sikeston passed away Monday, Dec. 11, 2023, at her home.

She was born April 15, 1947, in Cape Girardeau at Saint Francis Hospital to the late John Henry Jr. and Lilly Elizabeth Heyde Yount.

She graduated from Sikeston High School in 1965 and from Stephens College with a bachelor's degree in secondary education. She earned her master's degree in English from Southeast Missouri State University. She taught at Sikeston public schools for 20 years, mostly as a high school English teacher.

Lilly was a member of Chapter HB of the PEO Sisterhood and a member of Sikeston Elks Lodge. She was a lifelong member of First United Methodist Church in Sikeston.

She is survived by a sister, Jane Ella Yount Potashnick of Cape Girardeau; niece, Heyde Elizabeth Potashnick Rendleman, and her husband, Todd David Rendleman of Oran, Missouri; and nephew, John Douglas Potashnick, and his wife, Virginia Grace Estelle Goodin Potashnick, of St. Louis.

Besides her parents, Lilly was preceded in death by a nephew, Nicholas Marshall Potashnick.

A visitation will be from noon until the time of the funeral at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 16, at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel in Sikeston, with Jennifer Moxley, pastor of First United Methodist in Sikeston, officiating. Entombment will be in the Sikeston City Mausoleum.
