Lillie Wessling, 89, of Cape Girardeau died Wednesday, April 2, 2003, at Southeast Missouri Hospital. She was born Jan. 28, 1914, at Neelys Landing, Mo., daughter of Carl J. and Nora Clingingsmith Craft. She and Henry J. Wessling were married May 4, 1932, in St. Louis. He died April 16, 1985...

Lillie Wessling, 89, of Cape Girardeau died Wednesday, April 2, 2003, at Southeast Missouri Hospital.

She was born Jan. 28, 1914, at Neelys Landing, Mo., daughter of Carl J. and Nora Clingingsmith Craft. She and Henry J. Wessling were married May 4, 1932, in St. Louis. He died April 16, 1985.

Wessling grew up in Neelys Landing, lived in St. Louis 35 years, and moved back to Cape Girardeau County in 1961. She moved to Cape Girardeau in 1977 from Pocahontas.

She was a member of St. Mary's Cathedral and its Cathedral Ladies, and VFW Auxiliary Post 3838.

Survivors include a son, Gale Wessling of Sikeston, Mo.; two daughters, Dolores Dresner of St. Louis, Veronica McCormick of Cape Girardeau; a sister, Roxie Kenter of St. Louis; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by five brothers and five sisters.

Friends may call at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home from 4 to 8 p.m. today. Parish prayers will be at 7.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Mary's Cathedral, with Msgr. Richard Rolwing officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.
