She was born April 22, 1915, in Atlanta, Ga., daughter of James Jackson and Laura Adeline McDougal Bowers. She and Oscar Watkins were married March 27, 1931, in Gosnell, Ark. CHAFFEE -- Lillie Irene Watkins, 80, formerly of Chaffee, died Wednesday, March 13, 1996, at Chaffee Nursing Center.

She was born April 22, 1915, in Atlanta, Ga., daughter of James Jackson and Laura Adeline McDougal Bowers. She and Oscar Watkins were married March 27, 1931, in Gosnell, Ark. He died March 12, 1957.

Watkins was a member of Salcedo Baptist Church.

Survivors include three sons, Johnny Watkins of Sikeston, Don and Junior Watkins of Oran; two daughters, Jean Mitchem and Pam Wefenstette of Sikeston; a brother, Jim Bowers of Charleston, Ark.; five sisters, Wanda Davis of Armona, Calif., Velma McCain and Joan Howard of Phoenix, Ariz., Martha Davis of Lemoore, Calif., Mildred Ritchie of Hanford, Calif.; 27 grandchildren, and 24 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two sons, a daughter, brother and sister.

Friends may call at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel in Sikeston from 5-8 p.m. today.

Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the chapel, with the Rev. Leroy Kinney officiating. Burial will be in Forest Hills Memorial Garden at Morley.
