EAST PRAIRIE -- Lillie Mae Burgess, 96, of East Prairie died Saturday, March 1, 1997, at the Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.

She was born Feb. 19, 1901, in Mississippi County, daughter of George and Cora Fleming McMikle. She lived her entire life in Mississippi County and was a member of the First Church of God in East Prairie.

She married James Paul Burgess on Feb. 21, 1933, and he preceded her in death on Jan. 11, 1975.

She is survived by two daughters, Dora Hogue of East Prairie and Virginia Wilson of Palmyra; five grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister.

Friends may call from 4:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at the McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Larry Smith, pastor of the First Church of God in East Prairie, officiating. Burial will follow in Dogwood Cemetery.
