Lillian Lee Sample, 94, died Tuesday, Sept. 22, 2020, at Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau. She was born Nov. 8, 1925, in Cape Girardeau, the daughter of Loa and Lillian Marie Huskey. On Oct. 25, 1942, she married Johnie T. Whitaker of Chaffee, Missouri, and they had four children. On Aug. 29, 1962, she married Eugene Busch, who died Aug. 11, 1978. Then, on Oct. 29, 1988, she married Jerry Bernard Sample, who died June 15, 2004...

Lillian Lee Sample, 94, died Tuesday, Sept. 22, 2020, at Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau.

She was born Nov. 8, 1925, in Cape Girardeau, the daughter of Loa and Lillian Marie Huskey. On Oct. 25, 1942, she married Johnie T. Whitaker of Chaffee, Missouri, and they had four children. On Aug. 29, 1962, she married Eugene Busch, who died Aug. 11, 1978. Then, on Oct. 29, 1988, she married Jerry Bernard Sample, who died June 15, 2004.

Lillian received a double promotion from May Greene Grade School and graduated from Cape Girardeau Central High School in 1942. She went on to graduate from Metro Business College. She worked for Moon Distributing for more than 30 years.

She was of the Lutheran faith.

Survivors include daughters, Judy Young and Linda (Ronnie) Cunningham; grandchildren, Terry (Bobbie Jo) Childers, Garry Childers, Jack (Joyce) Cunningham, Teresa (Danny) Lusk, Richard Ray Whitaker Jr., Justin Vinson, Tara DePauw and Charlie DePauw; stepgrandchildren, Cindy Ignacio and Gary Tracy; 14 great-grandchildren; 22 great-great-grandchildren; and a niece, Shirley H. Elledge of North Miami Beach, Florida.

She was preceded in death by her parents; three husbands; son, Richard Ray Whitaker; daughter, Nancy Ann DePauw; and grandson, Larry Keith Childers.

Lillian will be placed in the Mausoleum at Cape County Memorial Park Cemetery, after cremation. There will be no public services.

McCombs Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau is in charge of arrangements.
