Lillian M. Hitt, 102, of Cape Girardeau died Thursday, Jan. 16, 2014, at Ratliff Care Center.
She was born April 13, 1911, in Cape Girardeau County, to William and Rosena Suedekum Rau. She and Harry Hitt were married April 8, 1933, at Zion Lutheran Church in Gordonville. He preceded her in death Dec. 22, 1951.
Lillian was a member of Zion Church and was an original member of its Ladies Aid. She had worked as a housekeeper at Southeast Hospital.
She was raised on the homeplace on Highway 74, and she and Harry farmed it and it is still in the family. There were a lot of pecan trees on the farm, and they sold pecans to friends.
Survivors include a son, Horace (Frances) Hitt of Cape Girardeau; a daughter, Verna M. (Roy) Lancaster of Cape Girardeau; four grandchildren, Vicki (Larry) Yeargain, Randy (Amy) Hitt, Lance (Sarah) Lancaster and Daniel Lancaster; and a granddaughter-in-law, Debbie Hitt.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and two grandchildren, Mark and Thomas Hitt.
Friends may call from noon to service time today at Ford and Sons Sprigg Street Funeral Home.
The funeral will be at 3 p.m. today at the funeral home, with the Rev. Wayne Schwiesow officiating. Burial will be in Cape County Memorial Park.
Memorial contributions may be given to Zion Lutheran Church at Gordonville.
