MOUNDS, Ill. -- Lillard B. "X" Warden, 82, of Mounds, formerly of Mound City, Illinois, passed away suddenly Friday, Jan. 30, 2015, at his home.
He was born Dec. 12, 1932, in Cairo, Illinois, son of Lillard B. Warden Sr.
X served in the National Guard.
He was a member of Kim Shriners Club, Elks Lodge, Masonic Lodge, all in Cairo, and a member of the American Legion Post in Villa Ridge, Illinois.
X owned and operated Warden Supplies Shop in Mound City and served on the Cairo Fire Department for 21 years.
Survivors include a daughter, Skeeter Harrell of Mounds; a son and daughter-in-law, Jimmy and Vicki Warden of Mound City; six grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and wife, Frances Warden on Jan. 23, 2010.
Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at Jones Funeral Home in Villa Ridge, with a firemen walk-through. Masonic and Shriners services will be at 11 a.m.
A memorial service will follow, with the Rev. Larry Buckles officiating. Interment will be in Green Lawn Memorial Gardens in Villa Ridge, with full military honors by area veterans and the Illinois National Guard Burial Team.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of memorials to Shriners Hospital for Children in memory of X Warden.
