CAIRO, Ill. -- Lillard S. "Shot" Ransom, 78, of Cairo, died Monday, May 3, 1993, at Daystar Care Center in Cairo. He was born Dec. 1, 1914, in Cunningham, Ky., son of Carl and Lealier Edwards Ransom. Ransom was a retired bailiff and deputy with Alexander County Sheriff's Department, and served as county coroner several years. He was a member of American Legion, and was a Republican precinct committeman in Cairo many years. He was a veteran of World War II...

CAIRO, Ill. -- Lillard S. "Shot" Ransom, 78, of Cairo, died Monday, May 3, 1993, at Daystar Care Center in Cairo.

He was born Dec. 1, 1914, in Cunningham, Ky., son of Carl and Lealier Edwards Ransom.

Ransom was a retired bailiff and deputy with Alexander County Sheriff's Department, and served as county coroner several years. He was a member of American Legion, and was a Republican precinct committeman in Cairo many years. He was a veteran of World War II.

Survivors include a sister, Margaret Harman of Indianola, Miss.

Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Barkett Funeral Home in Cairo. The Revs. Larry Potts and Jerome Fortenberry will officiate, with burial in Mound City National Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home after 5 p.m. today.
