MINER, Mo. -- Littleton Harris "L.H." Moore, 88, of Tifton, Ga., died Monday, May 18, 2009, at Tift Regional Medical Center.

He was born July 13, 1920, in Hoxie, Ark., son of Claud and Grace Barnhill Moore. He married Cornelia Jane Brasenell, who preceded him in death.

Moore was retired from the upholstery business. He served several terms as mayor of Miner and was a member of Miner Planning and Zoning Committee many years. He was a member of Miner Baptist Church in Sikeston, Mo., and Northside Baptist Church in Tifton. He was a redcoat with Tift Regional Medical Center Auxiliary.

He was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of World War II, with 32 missions flown over Japan.

Survivors include his fiancee, Fran McEachern of Tifton; a daughter and son-in-law, Gerry Lyn and Brad Gilliland of Lees Summit, Mo.; two granddaughters, Bethany and Curtis Richards and Geneice Brewer, all of Ty Ty, Ga.; two great-grandchildren, Jayce Richards and Brandon Richards of Ty Ty; three nephews, Curt Moore, Tom Brasenell and Chuck Moore.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Janie Moore Brewer; and a brother, Ralph Moore.

A service will be held at 2 p.m. today at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals in Tifton, with Dr. Fred Evers officiating.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Memorial Park Cemetery in Sikeston.

Honorary pallbearers will be John Kennedy, the Rev. Edsel Pettiford, Bob Evans, Billy Heath, Ronnie Story, Duke Ellington and members of Tift Medical Center Auxiliary.

Flowers will be accepted or memorial gifts may be made to Tift Regional Medical Center Auxiliary.
