PARMA -- Lewis Almon "Slim" Medlin, 87, of Parma, died Monday, May 22, 2000, at Dexter Memorial Hospital in Dexter.

He was born Jan. 3, 1913, at Silva, son of John Denton and Carrie Ethel Montgomery Medlin. He and Reba Lorane Pippins were married Oct. 13, 1933, in Piggott, Ark. She survives.

Medlin had lived in Parma since 1940. He had owned a business and worked as a mechanic. He also had worked at W.L. Ramsey in Parma and New Madrid and at Penny's Chrysler and Plymouth in Malden.

He was licensed as a private airplane pilot in 1953. He was a member of the Parma General Baptist Church.

Other survivors include a son, L. Dean Medlin of Parma; a sister, Dorothy Davis of O'Fallon; three granddaughters and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and two sisters.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. today at Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Parma.

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the chapel, with the Revs. Don Cooper and Cecil Keller officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery in Malden.
