Lewis S. Dunne, 97, of Cape Girardeau died Sunday, Dec. 15, 2013, at his home.

He was born Friday, Feb. 25, 1916, in Wilmington, Del., to John and Elsie Zamaika Dudzinski. He and Claudine Rawlings were married Sunday, April 13, 1941, at Hamilton Park, Del. She died Nov. 30, 2002.

Lewis attended Penn State University and Drexel Institute of Technology in Philadelphia. He also was a professional boxer. He was a mechanical engineer for General Steel Industries, retiring in 1978, and was a member of the Boilermakers Union.

He was a former member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Woodlyn, Pa., for 40 years, serving on the board. He moved to Bishop, Calif., in 1984 and was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church serving as president of the board. He moved to Cape Girardeau in 1995 and was a member of Scriptural Evangelical Lutheran Church in Egypt Mills.

Survivors include a daughter, Claudia (Randy) Haley of Cape Girardeau; two sons, Mark R. (Shirley) Dunne of Arizona City, Ariz., and Stephen L. (Gwen) Dunne of Carrizozo, N.M.,; 13 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and seven brothers.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Chapel.

A graveside service will be at 1:30 p.m. at Scriptural Evangelical Lutheran Church Cemetery in Egypt Mills, with the Rev. Mark R. Dunne officiating.

Memorial contributions may be given to Southeast Hospice, 10 Doctors' Park Drive, Cape Girardeau, MO 63703.
