Levi Woods Sr.

POPLAR BLUFF, Mo. -- Levi Arden Woods Sr., 84, of Ellsinore, Mo., died Saturday, Dec. 18, 2004, at The Manor Nursing Home in Poplar Bluff.

He was born on April 30, 1920, at Mount Vernon, Ark., son of the late William Arthur and Lucy Ellen (Rose) Woods. He and Pauline B. McCormick were married, and she preceded him in death.

Woods had resided in Ellsinore since moving there from Scott City in 1985. He was a retired tug and river boat engineer for the Ingram Lines. He was a U.S. Army veteran who served in World War II.

Survivors include his longtime companion Ethel Fowler of Ellsinore; one daughter, Paula Woods of Scott City; two sons, Levi A. Woods Jr., of Scott City and Marshall Woods of Chaffee; three brothers, Jack and Ben Woods of Ellsinore and B.H. Woods of Mt. Vernon; four grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and six great-step grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by four brothers.

The funeral will be held today at 10 a.m. at the McSpadden Funeral Home Chapel in Ellsinore. The Rev. Lynn Ham will officiate, with burial in the Lightners Cemetery at Illmo, Mo.
