WHITEWATER -- Funeral for Leta Mildred Rose of Kirksville will be held at 10 a.m. today at Davis-Playle Funeral Home in Kirksville. Berry Poyner will officiate, with burial in Maple Hills Cemetery in Kirksville.

Rose, 91, died Monday, March 8, 1999, at Twin Pines Adult Care Center in Kirksville.

She was born Nov. 6, 1907, at Whitewater, daughter of Samuel and Augusta Sperling Bartels. She and Byron Webster Rose were married May 28, 1938, at Gordonville. He died Sept. 6, 1980.

Rose was reared at Whitewater, attended area schools and Southeast Missouri State University.

She taught school 10 years in the Whitewater and Puxico areas. She also had been a seamstress at Grand Leader and Herboth's Clothing.

The Roses moved to Graysville after their marriage, and in 1942 moved to Kirksville. She was a member of Filmore Street Church of Christ in Kirksville, and a volunteer with RSVP.

Survivors include a son, Carl Rose of Fergus Falls, Minn.; a brother, Elmer Bartels of Whitewater; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son and two brothers.
